A little about Daniel Watson
My Mission is simple, I simply want to teach the Average Joe and Average Jane how to stay safe in the event you ever become the targeted victim of a bad guy!!
I want to do this in an environment you're comfortable in, at a cost you can afford and in a way that is easy to understand and apply if you ever encounter danger!!
I want to ensure that whether you're a law enforcement officer, who may someday encounter a 'perp' with a knife, a college student fearful of walking alone at night on campus, or just the average woman or man that has to walk to your car alone in the grocery store parking lot, I want to show YOU a set of skills that you CAN use if the bad thing(s) you fear ever happen to you.
My name is Daniel Watson and I am the sole owner and instructor of Tactical Awareness Concepts.
Operating just outside of Quitman, in northeast Texas, I teach a variety of firearms and other courses along with the Texas Concealed Handgun License (CHL) Course.
I served in the U.S. Army as a Warrant Officer and retired as a CW4 in 2011 after more than 22 years of service. I am a decorated combat veteran and served as a U.S. Military Contractor in Afghanistan for two years following my retirement from the Army. I am an NRA Certified Handgun instructor, NRA Personal Protection In The Home (PPITH) Instructor, NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home (PPOTH) Instructor, a former reserve police officer and a professional airplane and MEDEVAC helicopter pilot.
While stationed in Central Texas in the Army, I studied AMOK, a knife fighting specialty skill based on Filipino Stick Fighting, for two years with the Central Texas Combatives Training Group (CTCTG) and learned valuable defensive knife skills that I now incorporate in my Law Enforcement training classes.
I have been a trainer in many different disciplines over the past several years. My teaching experience ranges from military certified helicopter instructor, certified instrument flight instructor, NRA certified instructor in several disciplines, certified “police-motorcycle” instructor, TCOLE certified law enforcement instructor (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) and a defensive knife skills instructor.
Tactical Awareness Concepts came to be because in November of 2009, I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and experienced the traumatic aftermath of the terrorist shooting that took the lives of 13 of my fellow Soldiers.
Following that day, November 5th, I needed a way to help! I was frustrated that I couldn't do anything that day. I sought out some way that I could do something!! I decided that I would teach everyone I could, everyone that desired my help, how to shoot and how to defend themselves in their everyday environment! I would make it safe, efficient and affordable and I would pass on my knowledge of guns, shooting, knife skills, instructing, safety, home defense, everything I had learned over the years. I would start a business!
Combining my knowledge and experience in police work, professional instruction, firearms, even accident investigation, I set about designing a core set of classes and courses that I could teach to the Average Joe and Average Jane. Shortly thereafter, Tactical Awareness Concepts was born.
